Ico / Shadow of the Colossus - Really THAT good?

Since Team Ico said there was going to be this release for the PS3 people seem to be popping up everywhere saying how amazing these games were.
I've never heard of them before & only really did when the first signs of The Last Guardian appeared. Ico looks a little boring to me and I'm not that into any game types apart from FPS or the odd third person one but these are intriguing me, I've seen some gameplay videos but due to the age/resolution/etc they're not that great.

The Hut have the pre-order for £27.93 & I have a whopping £1 off code so should I take a punt? It'll probably come in price though so maybe I won't pre-order but what are people's opinions on these possible hidden gems?

    Cheers guys 'n gals!

    Rob

Definitely not a series of games to miss, In my opinion a couple of the very top titles to ever hit the Playstation 2.

Totally agree, two of the best games for the PS2 and certainly quite different to a lot of games out at the time.

I'll probably end up getting them just for the HD update.

These games and GT5 are two reasons I might actually go and buy a PS3

Amazing games... period. I'll be buying them for the PS3 having passed the PS2 on with these games to fan friends.

The only 2 PS2 games I've held onto and have no intentions of selling.

Will be getting the remakes too.

Re: Ico / Shadow of the Colossus - Really THAT good?

What makes this franchise (including last guardian) unique is that it brings a completely different, refresh type of genre/idea just like Mirrors edge for an example. I may have to pick a copy of the remade HD aswell.

I've got Ico on the Ps2, never really got around to playing it (I should dig out the PS2 and set it up to play it really)

Re: Ico / Shadow of the Colossus - Really THAT good?

I absolutely love Shadow of the Coloossus; that is an epic game. Can't wait for the HD version... Ico I didn't get into so much. It had the same sort of awesome atmosphere, but it seemed a bit *too* quiet, especially since it was primarily a puzzle game. They are both supposed to be great games but I personally preferre SotC.

Both of these games are classics and I absolutely love them. The thing I loved the most about them was that fact that they had very unique gameplay and a haunting atmosphere.

Re: Ico / Shadow of the Colossus - Really THAT good?

I'm interested in Shadow of the Colossus but I haven't been overly impressed with the other HD collections I have tried so far though that's more a criticism of the games than anything else.
