Best / Most Realistic driving game

I've only played FPSs on the PS3 since buying it last Xmas.
What driving games would you recommend?
Which would you say are the most realistic?

I'm after a racing game for me, but also something my 6 year old would enjoy (otherwise he'll want to play Mario Kart on the Wii). Not a problem except it's connected to the same TV as the PS3

Driving games, realistic, and consoles dont usually mix very well.

About the best of the PS3 would be IMO GT5.

Owning a PS3 and not getting GT5 seems almost criminal to me, but then I'm obsessive about GT at times

Is NFS:Shift out on the PS3? That's the other more realistic one aside from GT5.

But really you should get a PC for realistic driving sims.

GT5 definitely. Not that great at driving games, but this seems to be the best out there at the moment, as bad as I am at it
