If it still doesnt work then by all means take it back to currys on the sales of good act stuff,

I used to work at a PC repair shop(left about a week ago) before i left we had a guy going on about the slaes of goods act and he bought his ps3 in like Nov 07, but it was still under some sort of warranty under the act, im not sure what but my manager had no alternative but to take it in and we had to have a go at a repair,

To be honest try with sony support first, but you got nothing to lose trying currys.

Go with currys first then try Sony. That's what I'd do anyway.

I had that problem, my PS3 turned off while i was playing FIFA then it kept flashing red. Then a yellow light started coming on, and I realized I had the yellow light of death. I had to get a new one.

Its worth considering getting a new PS3 rather than paying the repair fee's... New one's don't look as nice but are alot quieter!

Sale of Goods act might work here - 3 years isn't a huge amount for a console
