PS3 and Pioneer pdp434

Ive just loaned my old Pioneer 434 plasma to my brother in law and we can't get it to recognise the PS3 at all. The MySky box works fine hooked up either by the hdmi cable or rgb cable but neither works with the PS3 - just a black screen. Does anyone have any ideas. I have searched the forum and didn't note anything we havent tried but may have missed it.

Might sound obvious, but was the PS3 last set to output at 1080P on whatever it was plugged into before?

If so, plugging it into a 720p only device (which I'm presuming the Pioneer is!) will generate pretty much what you're getting!

Worth checking if video output is set to 720p and then trying

Hold the on button until it beeps, this will reset the output.
