    Car Crash HDR

    Hey all, I know it's not really a picture of a car crash, but I was in a car crash and just happened to have my d70 on me and I thought that I'd try and make my first ever thread here at least semi interesting Whilst waiting for the recovery vehicle I noticed the sun setting next too an empty office building. I balanced the camera on a pole and took 3 shots +/-2 steps and came up with the pic below. Might still be a bit ott for non-hdr lovers

    Nice effort ....
    Does the building have a halo around the edges ? Happens if you blend exposures which are too different or if you oversharpen. But then it could just be my screen.

    That does look freeky and cool! Even the plant life at the front looks alien.

    I'm also just starting to play with HDR and am finding it fascinating. I like this shot for it's other worldly aspect

    The halo looks a bit odd but overall it has a good surreal feel to it.

    lol, cheers guys. I appreciate your comments and the reason why I processed it as such was to interprate what I saw in front of me. It was a wierd, surreal building, like something alien. I think I've portrayed that accurately in my photo and I like it

    I like it! Dunno enough to comment further, except to say only thing I'd be tempted to do (if such a thing is possible) would be to reduce the sort of "glow" eminating from the roof of the building which I suppose is some artefact of the HDR-ing?

    HDR = High Dynamic Range

    In truth (I think!) these images are tone-mapped to simulate the way your eyes would adjust to different light intensities while looking around a scene, rather than true HDR as your montior would not be able to display actual HDR (I've seen a prototype using a projector to pump light through a TFT screen to increase the dynamic range to something very large - 100,000:1 could have been something like it)

    it's quite fun to try out though you will find not to everyone's tastes.
