Not with TV, but broadband here in TF7 is carp beyond belief, a regular 2Mb *if I'm lucky* on what's supposed to be 4Mb. most of the time I'm getting around 1.2Mb.

20Mb is not here yet and so no STM running, but even after repeated complaints still no joy. I'm seriously considering moving, but to where ? My soon in law works for EntaNet here in Telford, so maybe I'll avail myself of the freebie service he'll get in a few weeks.
    Cheers, David

I've heard quite a lot of complaints about the V+ box, not recording, crashing, recording completely the wrong channel etc.

We've got Sky+ and I personally think that's the best option at the moment. It seems to work flawlessly 99% of the time and we've had very few missed recordings. Of course when the box crashed big time after Xmas(after a power cut), we lost all our recordings but that's the only time it's happened and these things are the price you pay for the convenience.

Our VM broadband has actually been pretty good (just outside Watford in HP) and we've had it for about 4 years now. Of course when things do go wrong, it's basically impossible to get it fixed because you get put through to Indian call centres who know next to nothing about PCs.

If it were me, I'd be inclined to keep the BB (as long as you're happy with it) and move your TV services to Sky.

Cant say much about there TV - as i dont have virgin media (sky+ here), but there broadband is fine in the CV3 area - paid for the 10MB line and get around about 1.08Mb/s download from a decent server

Well, I don't hate them as such, but since the takeover the reliability has gone to utter pants, and the EPG forgets what's on at least once per day, requiring a reboot.

I've not had any issues tbh, and find them cheap (£30) but then I don't have V+ and don't measure the internet speed..

Keep losing on demand for days.
Internet goes awol every 6 weeks or so. And is currently not running very quick - maybe to do with upgrade to 20Meg in my area.

I really am fed up with cable TV.

I'm thinking of getting a freeview box and maybe subscribe to Setanta for sport

They have very good customer support, if you tell them what probs you have they'll change your box!
Besides which you can't really go for $ky can you, after the tricks they tried to pull after branson took over?

We really suffered with our Pace box when the VM graphics upgrade came through. I think we had a week without TV as the engineers were busy (hint that I think). So eventually we got a new box which worked for about an hour.

Things got so bad we were looking at moving to Sky but it seems things are OK now. I did tell my Mum to demand one of the new Samsung silver boxes but we keep getting the old Pace ones.

last week lost TV and broadband.
rang up just to find out if it was a known problem in my area and annoying script pedantic customer care got an engineer booked for me for the TV and then told me that she couldn't get someone for the broadband, so, after being transferred, had to book another another engineer. Took about an hour!
TV came back 3 hours later and broadband the next day.
Rang up to cancel engineers and decided instead to press option 4 - "are you thinking of leaving?".
Very nice bloke, ended up reducing my VIP bill to £50ish quid.
Good news - VM have received many complaints about offshore customer care and have decided that after trial ends they will not be renewing contract and will being cust. care back to UK.

I've had no problems, but im on the telewest side, which, lets be fair, was always the better company of the two , i've got the 4mbit and quite often get around 420 - 480 MB/s downloading which is pretty close to the maximum (remember the line is based on megabits whereas when ur downloading a file it usually shows as megabytes)

i've been with ntl then virgin media for about 4 years and never had a problem. i have the 4 mbit line and it performs flawlessly. only ever had one problem when the 3 1/2 year old modem finally had it. the came and replaced it next day.

ive been with telewest for about 6 years or so, last 2 and half years have been terrible. High utilisation issues and no updates on when they will be fixed. Internet only runs fine when all the students go back home

2 meg service works alright here at my Mam's house (edit: this is in Doncaster, btw, not Lincoln). Victim of throttling since I used to have 10 meg and download a lot when I lived here. No problems with the TV, though we don't really use on demand that much.

    Virgin Media is crap.

My tutor is on thier fastest broadband package and he is lucky to get 1mb during peak hours.

    Sky+ FTW.
