Just signed up as I'm having much the same fun with this AquaPict power supply.

The original PSU when plugged into a Japanese stepdown gives 12V. It's actually labelled as 6V though.

The manual for the AquaPict doesn't state an input voltage, neither is one printed anywhere on the tank.

Along with this, I've been going through a whole swathe of spare AC adapters and measuring the voltage output. Compared with the stated voltage 99% of them are +30%, certainly way out of what they are specified as.

    Am I missing something here?

Right well I found a replacement unit.

Testing the original one while plugged in and operating the Aquarium saw a voltage drop from from 13v to 9v at full load.

I used a replacement that put out a measured 13v (labelled 7.5v) and everything works fine.

Dumbfounded as to where the 5v figure came from though!
