Anyone remember....

....a series of educational programs they used to show in schools in the 80s that had a flying orange robot in them? I think he might have been called Wordy, or something. They had a story, and every so often it would stop and Wordy would do a bit of a routine about one of the words, then the story would carry on. One of the stories scared the hell out of me when I was 7, it was about a haunted castle.

Anyway, I only ask because I can distinctly remember one of the songs that was explaining how putting an 'e' on the end of the word changed it's meaning e.g. 'pin' becomes 'pine'. The chorus went "Magic, Magic E! Magic, Magic E!". I'm amazed nobody did an early 90s hardcore mix of it.

Edit: answered my own question with Google. They were called Look and Read, by the looks of things. The one that scared me was called Dark Towers. Here's a page I found.

I had the book to through the dragon's eye! I used to watch the program along with it and remembered being really really scared when Charn was due to show up cause he was really scary in the book's pictures. Then he gets shown on screen and he's just a man in a silly cape and a mask :/ Such a letdown.
