Thumbs up My 7 week photojournal of Philippines (large post, quite artsy)

Well, a very brief selection of it, and only in the areas of Philippines I had the chance/dosh to travel to - for a gander at all the pics I chose to upload in total, clicky here!
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/unrealmusik/sets/

I can't afford a better lens so all these are taken with the Canon 400D with the stock lens, and a bokeh 50mm lens. I thrown em all into photoshop for a resize & auto-colour/contrast/levels and the like. I had to do this for some of them because the light was so intense that the low aperture I left it on with aperture priority effected some pics lol. I consider myself still quite new to photography as I only bought my first DSLR just before summer (when these were taken).

    Most of them I have uploaded for the arty nature of the pics, but I'll throw in a few goodies in there like this . I took all of these pictures apart from the ones I'm in of course;

Thats me! Can you believe I successfully chatted one up while on a smaller flight from Philippines to Singapore, got her number & email, and all that business haha.

    Somewhere over Malaysia?

My mum moments into finally arriving into the house, where she can finally be in the country she grew up in for a few blissful weeks with the family she hasn't seen in 4 years, and with her favourite food she hasn't seen in just as long either

My grandpa found it all a bit much

A rice seller in Davao Del Sur, a lot of people seem to laze about here a lot lol

Who needs petrol when you got two to a bike

One of my great uncs, had to keep the shutter lower to capture the movement of the hand

Best ride home from school ever

Dodging the wave of coconut trees

While we were having a party on the beach, some kids and peeps were fishing and literally putting those fish straight into this bucket and selling it

Local kids in the rainforest farms, by the pump

My brother learns to drive a bike - my other brother watches on in a pose of disappointment of some sort.

Waiting for the cashier to finish

    Heh, 'dingdong'.... haha meatdealer too.

Over 90% of the Philippines is Roman Catholic, but unfortunately the slow seperation from muslims is starting to be apparent as a whole thanks to muslim terrorist rebels frequently bombing public places.

My little cousin... a right little devil

During the Kadayawan 2008 Street parade. I got HUGE respect for these peeps and kids for parading out and being so jolly and happy when under the intense heat it's difficult to dance and parade around for this long. It was an INCREDIBLE experience, definitely a photographers dream for portrait peeps like me.

    Startlingly beautiful.

One of the best smiles I've ever seen in my life!

Reminds me of Rihanna's video, lol

Re-enacting some sort of imprisonment/slavery within their parade piece

    Awwwwwww

No one wants to be homeless at this age. You would think you would have family to go to. So she collects what change she can with the cup of a multibillion dollar corporation. I REALLY wish I used a higher exposure... I went back to get another picture about 10 mins after this but she was gone already

My brothers and mum could only stay here for 3 weeks before work/school called. Lucky for me, I could stay for another 4 weeks... but it was hard for the family to let them go back to the other side of the world.

When it rains, it's so much and so loud that you have to shout

    Paradise is nice.

Quadbiking around the Chocolate Hills was EPIC.

Thanks so much for checking out this thread, aaaaaaaaany comments are appreciated since I'm a Visual Communications student. Although Illustration is my forte, I still like to venture into photography when I can.

Sorry if its a bit of a pic overload for some people, there were around 4000 pictures taken by myself throughout, so you must understand that this is a minor selection!

Heh you must have missed my little text on my last post

Around 4000 pics were taken overall, so these were just a select few really! And yeah it was rented quadbikes, I think it cost around £15 for a guided tour for about an hour, it was one of the highlights of my whole vacation because it was actually very non-restrictive, so driving through rural villages and splashing into huge puddles, and doing actual jumps over little hills and bumps were all good We stayed at the small island of Bohol, and you could rent Underbone motorcycles (a type of motorbike that's like a less powerful version of a typical off-roader, with a tiny hint of scooter) for the whole day for £10. IT WAS INCREDIBLE, the roads are the most fun I've ever driven in ever, more fun than all the video games I've played in my life added together. Strictly in Bohol though, I wouldn't say that for the rest of Philippines.

Thanks much guys, glad you like em! Thanks to this, I have a HUUUUGE interest in photojournalism and travel photography now, it's just so exciting and fun to capture the things around the world that are so different to what we have here as a culture and society in the UK.

I'm studying at Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, as part of BCU. It's really nice here, but they ask for epic amounts of work to keep up their rep or something I assume. lol something I guess I should expect but not very compatible with!

    Good times.

Have to be my fave 3 shots from this, I'm a lover of 'captured moments' and scenes of beauty like this.

You need to upload the rest for us all to see

Heh I will add this to the original post, but all the pictures are available on Flickr. I've uploaded loads, the rest were either failed uploads that I didn't notice (the flickr uploader program isn't the best thing on Earth), family pics, bad shots, or dupes. Thanks much for the kind words though sir!
