Omg, only 4 months ago did I buy the 495 for £200!! Top notch entry level decoder, if I had any more money I would get that and use it with my computer in my room, man that would rock. Nice find!!

If you're buying a system for home cinema use... I.e noise, those speakers are a bargain. Couple them with a good sub and you're laughing.

Its got both Fibre Optic and Coax digital input so your DVD player will work with it, its got another 5 coax stereo inputs for video, cd player etc....it'll do Pro Logic 1 so plug the video in for surround films and plug the set top box in for Sky/Cable.....

Its got a sub output if you wanna get a box later.....

For the price its probably a good deal although at that price I wouldn't expect much better sound (if not worse) than your going to get out of a home MIDI system, also I doubt the cones are going to be very reliable.

The sony decoder looks a good deal, I don't particularaly like Sony apart from optical systems but its probably alright.

I'd much prefer to spend that bit more and get a proper system

They'll be a fair bit better than any MIDI system. Most likely built better quality than the cheap plasticy products you can buy in Argos. Lol
