    Photography Books

    Hi everyone,

I am going to Nepal in the Spring and will be wanting to take some photos that do the scenery and wildlife justice. I don't have any funds to upgrade any of my kit (I will be taking my 300D, with stock 28-90 lens and a 100mm Canon Macro) so I figured the best way to get good pictures was to actually learn how to take them properly!

So, does anyone have any recommendations for informative books about good landscape and macro photography? I am interested in the different techniques that could be used, and what camera settings to use in different situations really. I don't really want something which is just full of photos and a short description of how it was taken - I am looking for something a bit more in-depth (but not incomprehensible) but at the same time it would be good to have some visual examples of what sort of things can be achieved..

There's a load of free stuff out there - youtube is really good, maybe more for lighting demos but there's some landscape stuff too. One other thing to try is the video journals at the luminous landscape - maybe buy one and see how they go.

Bookwise... I've never really learnt much from a book myself - always other methods. Could I maybe steer you towards a workshop with someone good instead?

Thanks for the suggestion. I was going to add that any good free online recommendations would be welcome too. This website content looks a little technical for me at the moment, but I have bookmarked it.

Don't really have the time (or the money) at the moment unfortunately! I am supposed to be writing my PhD thesis! I was looking for something that I could dip in and out of - preferably text based rather than video as then I can dip into it 'in the field' if neccesary.
