Most beautiful piece of Hi-Fi kit ever?

    Ohhhhh, this tuner is gorgeous:

I've been scouring boot fairs and secondhand shops for years looking for Marantz oscilloscope tuners, no luck yet though.

but where is the RDS or DAB ?

only kidding - its a beautifull bit of kit. I used to have a couple of marantz amps & tape units , though they didn't last log, they wer of a similar vintage to that.

Hehe. I'm not a big fan of 70s silver gear in general, but the blue light and scope make all the difference.

Marantz should make a DAB tuner that looks like that (and preferably sounds as good, if that's possible).

Yuck, looks like a right lash up. I will keep the Marantz, cheers.

Cheers for the linky though, interesting! I might have to break out the old electronics textbooks again, I fancy getting into some amplifier fiddling, and I want to make myself a Chu Moy headphone amp, too.

Zak, it's from 1978, although they made similarly styled ones through the 70s, and oscilloscope tuners from the 60s.

I cribbed the picture from this site:

Gotta agree with Butuz on that valve setup. Got some valves here to build a headphone amp with at the moment but no time

Nah mate, 20/20 vision here (at least until I get longsightedness from spending hours a day on the computer ). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that.

What valves have you got for that, for me headphone amp i have a mullard ecc88 and a 6as7g for the output. Do you know of a good place for transformers i found www.sowter.co.uk who are supposed to be v good but they are quite pricy.
