    Phono extension cables?

Got my set of z640's today and the rear speaker cables are just too short to be practical. Does anyone have any idea where i can get a set of extenders from? They seem to just use normal phono connectors. I don't want to have to cut the cable to solder some more on. Any help very much appreciated...

Just buy a normal phono cable and a couple of 'female to female' splicer things. They're about an inch long and just have a female connector on each end. Easy.

Why not just buy some more speaker cable? Richer sounds @ 69p per metre? Or is that not how the Z640s work?

The 640's have molded phono plugs on each speaker and are soldering inside the speaker on the other end. Unlike the 680's where you can use whatever cable you want.

Ah, I see the problem then. Sorry, my post can't have been that helpful then. The maplins link above looks well cheap though.

Erm, you know normal phono cables are for LINE level sound, not speaker level sound. The speakers on cube systems are amped inside the sub box. You will probably lose quality, although the wire on the speakers probably looks quite weedy it'll have the right impediance for the speakers, you should really use speaker cable as it'll be able to cope with that level of voltage.

If you don't want to cut open the current cable, you can easily make up some cables suitable for the job ...

As none of you belive Mains cable is upto the job, http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/d...e/display.html would do you fine, and some phono plugs/sockets from maplin or wherever, solder them together (make sure you get the right polarity or your speakers'll work backwards) and you'll be fine.
