Can anyone tell me why, over time, my speakers seem to be taking longer and longer to come on? Sometimes it's an hour or so! They used to just come on instantly.
No trees were harmed in the creation of this message. However, many electrons were displaced and terribly inconvenienced.
It sounds like the amplifier is going south.
Which amp is it ?>
My NAD has FETs being fed from a large capacitor as switch on thump eliminator delay. If the capacitor or FETs go soft it will either take a while to switch, or never switch at all....

Some high end amps have a relay that disconnects the speakers until the amplifier output stabilises. If the sense cct fails or the relay becomes 'sticky' that will give the symptoms you describe.
