I had looked at the projector, but prefer the TV, no need to faff about with painting walls or hanging screens, suits the room better too, the TV
Great links mate, will peruse them at my leisure (when the boss aint looking)

608 bought today, nearly bought speakers too, but decided to hold off to makre sure I know exactly what I am getting, really like the look of these Q2000 thingies, and looking again at cost of cables this might be a good solution.
Getting there bit by bit
Excellent news - enjoy the Amp. I can't remember the exact weight of my 876, but it's 30-35kgs I think, so pretty heavy for the size. The delivery bloke nearly passed out when trying to lug it up to my flat, hehe.
It's great having all your gear plugged into one source, and a single cable going out to the TV.
what about this thread? O_o
dont feed the spam bot chap!
anyway, pop to superfi and see if they have the offer on the Q2000 setup, they all seem to be selling open box at the mo, if not find the best price onthe internet and go in store armed with it, they are cracking speakers, just keep getting better the more they bed in!
to be fair i upgraded my fronts to the 2020s after haggling for a deal with the 609, 2000i, 2020 upgrade and cable bundle.
always worth emailing your local store as the manager will deal with you to get a sale!
small things like the q2000 speaker brackets for £15 each once he has already done a deal

I think its just the speakers and cable package I want from them mate, so don't see much of a bargaining chip there, wall mounts might help
No branches in Scotland either, so its all gonna be done online, maybe calling them would help.
bit the bullet, speakers, cable package and 4 wall mounts ordered
just the TV to go now, Amazon have removed their offer, but I got weeks to go before I buy it anyways, see what crops up.
you wont regret that setup

I now have some large boxes in my hallway, very large..., and now i have to assemble speaker brackets, drill holes and erm, IM SCARED!
will take some pics once done tho
Nice one, will look forward to seeing the snaps once it's all complete.
Another step further on. TV has been ordered, arrives next Saturday. Couch arrives tuesday, and I picked up the wall mount today. I was a bit wary of the picture mount options (2 bits of plastic connected by a wire from the look), at a price of £80 from Samsung or copy from Amazon at £15, so bought a slimline metal bar mount, looks to be decent.
So, pretty much everything has been paid for, just got the mounting and cabling to sort out.
So, to recap in the manner of all the best Home Improvement shows.
I started with a budget of £1000-£1200 pounds, sought some advice, looked at some shiny things and being the strict disciplinarian that I am, stuck rigidly to my budget.
Speakers - Q2000 package with cables - £508
AV Unit - Onkyo 608 - £299
Media Center -Popcorn Hour (ok, already had this but lets throw it in anyways) with 2TB hard drive and wifi adaptor- approx £280
TV Wall Mount - Generic - £36
TV - Samsung UE46D8000 - £1518.89 (comes with Samsung WiFi Tab, currently out of stock)
Housing Unit for Input Devices - TBD
So, with cash remaining from the allocated budget, I will be eating Spam for breakfast, lunch and dinner for around 4 years.
Cant wait to get it all up and running tho, pics to follow when I can.
Delay
Called EDUK this morning to confirm time and query the invoice (TAB wasnt on it, thats ok tho). Some numpty had assigned the TV to the wrong courier (doesn't do Scotland) and so it will be next week before I get it. I will be in Alton Towers next week so looks like Sunday before I get any further forward.
C'est la vie
Frustrating stuff - there often seems to be issues with large screens getting courier delivered. My 1st HDTV was a 50" Sagem rear projection, and came in a HUGE box. I'd also ordered the accompanying stand, which was pretty large.
Took the delivery company 3 days to get the TV to me after the due date as they kept complaining the boxes were too big. Not really my fault - being a delivery company, that's something they need to resolve.
Hope you get it sorted soon.
I'm sure I will, and its not like its essential, its not a washing machine or anything that complicates my life while I don't have it. If they mess up the delivery this time round though, I may start to get tetchy
I need to find a unit that looks good and holds everything now, got 2 out of the 3 rooms decorated (still a lot of stuff in cinema room needing cleared out). So once cleared I can work out exactly what kind of unit will work, needs to house...
AV Unit (big thing!)
PS3
Media Center (small thing)
Modem and Router
V+ box
can be either black (Sofa and TV/Speakers/Mounts are all black, as are the devices themselves) or Pine like the wardrobes and 2 chest of drawers (1 getting chucked to make room). Ideally I would be craft handy and convert the chest of drawers but nahhh...
a small tip is to make sure the av has lots of airspace above it, i tried with about 2 inch and the fan kicked in after a short time, now its got about 8 inch and doesn't kick in.
