Just thought of another one - Boyz n the Hood
Definately City of God. (Based on a true story).
Made me feel like one of the luckiest guys alive, as soon as I was out of the cinema, I suddenly appreciated everything that was around me and everything that was given to me. . . - speechless for quite some time after it too. Definately made me reflect on quite a bit and "what if" questions.
Id say American History X probably had the same effect in terms of being speechless afterwards(even tho I was literally shouting at the movie itself whilst watching it). The ending was really harsh tho, I really didnt know whether to feel sorry, or angry or . . . iI definately didnt expect it to say the least.
Not a movie really, but the whole Evangelion anime series made me think throughout, especially towards the end, so many little bits and/or perhaps-deliberate holes that just made me wonder what really happened, or why etc.
HOWEVER,
The movie that definately confused the hell out of me and I really dont make head or tail out of (and still somewhat disturbing me) is :
Michael Takeshi's "GOZU"
I cant even write a synopsis for it off the top of my head.
Its very true that Eva messes with your mind. Especially the last two movies (Death and rebirth and the end of eva). A must see tbh.
Starship Troopers. Very thought provoking, and incredably subtle.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
Can i ask mate how starship troopers was provoking? I thought it was a no thinker type of film?
I defy anyone to watch Awakenings and not get moved by it; Especially as the credits roll up and you realise its based on a true story.
He's probably being sarcastic . . .at least it does sound sarcastic.
Wow, do you guys have to come up with such great films..now I really have to re-make my list.
