    Good 2.1 or Average 5.1?

Hey, getting a new PC next week, with Audigy 2 ZS, and i dont think my Logitech 4.1 speakers will cut it. Looking to spend about £100 on some speakers, but my room is pretty tiny and placing any speakers behind me for surround sound will be V difficult. Would it be in my best interest to pay about the same for a really kick ass set of 2.1 speakers? Think Logitech or Altec Lansing would be best.

These are what i have now but in 4.1

    these are what im considering

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers, James.

Some of the more expensive Creative speakers, or indeed those Logitechs, will provide excellent 2.1 sound quality It's worth it if you don't have the room or money to utilise a proper surround setup

    Ive got some AletcLansing 2100's.
    - There not bad, very crisp treble, and clear base. but unfortunatly theres very little inbetween. (not hard to see why if you look at them!)
    - There very stylish, and well made, but they compromise performance for style a little i feel.

I also have a set of Logitech X-230's, which are bulker, and have a rather sloppy treble, but much better midrange.
    - Also the two speakers are hardwired together with only about 1.2m of cable.
    - But there a fraction of the price.

Im now looking for somthing inbetween, in terms of cost, sound, and style!
    - Any ideas!

IMO, it depends what you use it for. For music, 2.1 is perfect (or headphones). But I do think that going 4.1 (or more) is beneficial for movie/gaming.
