I prefer iPad mini than Kindle
The iPad Mini has an IPS screen. So it's not going to be possible to read with it outside on a bright sunny day. Wheras if the kindle has an E-Ink display, then that will be possible.
In other respects, well you have the kindle app on iOS. So presumably it's 'just as good' or 'nearly as good'. Depending which features of the kindle software are implemented / missing (if any).
Of course you can do plenty else with an iPad apart from just reading eBooks. Which is the real reason why people tend to prefer it over the kindle.
I fell in love with e-ink readers, they are absolutely awesome also with phones getting bigger and bigger and laptops getting smaller and smaller I currently don't own a tablet (I use a chromebook for most of the stuff I would use it for) but I am still using my paperwhite (I had 2 nooks and one kobo before going for a kindle on an awesome deal and I loved them all).
