I suppose trance sounds ok if you are high on E, but to me it sounds like a ZX81 loading
each to their own though, I'm a closet Van Halen junkie - Hi energy guitar solos and catchy guitar riffs - thats my thing, kind of why I like Darkness.
i'll admit to knowing sweet f all about 'the darkness', can't say i've ever heard of them apart from on here, but how can music be out of date ?Originally posted by Bazzlad
They are 10/15 years out of date
I think that's the whole point about them. They're playing 70's/80's style rock to sort of... bring back the sound. I think they are original, has anyone else really tried this?
ive seen a few local bands been doing it for ages, they get slated for being out of date, the darkness do it, and they're the best thing ever>? it's all media hype.
I'm sure The Darkness have had their fair share of slating tho. They've just survived... When I saw them last year, the crowd were chanting F*** Off! and when they did finish everyone was happy! Just goes to show, i suppose, shouldn't give up at the first sign of extreme negativity!
Trance actually first appeared in 96/97 in dutch clubs tho it was very much underground. It wasnt until 98 that it became popular in clubs over here and ibiza. Early 90's dance was mostly hardcore. Over the last few years trance has developed a large following over here but the instrumental mixes tend to get watered down into trance lite with the dodgy lyrics eg kelly lorrenaOriginally posted by 3Dfx
Shows how much u know... Trance first cropped up end of 98 start of 99 when Ibiza went proper mainstream...
Early 90's and mid 90's was just basically dance hence prodigy
the dutch dance scene is mahooosive. when i was in 'dam, everywhere was covered in posters advertising different raves pretty much every night of the week. trance kinda sucks tho, i prefer drum n bass, especially old-skool and dark DnB, proper bo i tell thee
if war is the answer, then we are asking the wrong question
2 things i hate the most - xenophobia and the french
"chuffing"
they rock
Prodigy are not electronica Bazzlad, They range from Happy Hardcore to Dance, and sometimes stray further, but Deffo not Electronica.
Proper electronica is different, Listen to Air/Freq Nasty/Bonobo/Daft Punk/Jacques Lu Cont (aka Les Rythmes Digitales)/etc.... and youll see what I mean
Anyhow, back on topic, I like the darkness, and the way they are out to make people enjoy themselves. They been gigging for donkeys years, and they deserve all the success they can get. They bring it back to how Stadium Rock used to be, and I for one think it Rocks
Come on... doesnt everyone miss the classic old Rock extremes, like......... Axl Rose dancing around in Lycra hotpants?
Okay, just me then
hahaha

Agreed Knox, but at least they are going down the right route. I for one cant stand the prefab pop, or for that fact the limp bizkit style of rock, and If the darkness are giving kids something that goes back to the less sterile plastic wrapped crap that keeps being churned out these days, then all the better.
