    CD System advice.

I am looking for a one box CD player/radio system to sit on a shelf. 2 models currently looking at are the Audio Innovations Alto CT1, and the Yamaha TSX20, (cause there both cheap on Richersounds). Add on speakers and Im looking at spending between £150 and £220. Anyone offer any advice or better suggestions up to £220 including speakers?

I got a Denon DM31 a while back. Absolutely tremendous little system with a lovely sound. Richer Sounds are doing it for £180 and just twin it with a set of Mission speakers from there for another £50. Its £10 over budget but at that price its the best small one box system out there in my opinion .

update: i bought the Denon DM31 and a set of Gale Gold Monitor speakers ... the bloke in the shop advised me the Teac unit was better but i thought the DM31 gets all the rave reviews so i'll stick with that..

anyway i took it home plugged it all in and was fully let down by the sound. The DM31 feels like its made from cheap materials and weather or not there is a mismatch between unit and speakers i dunno but the bass was shallow and the top end totally unclear.. things got slightly better at higher volumes but i wanted consistency at all volumes cause i got a young daughter so cant always have at ear bleeding volume..

so after a chat with the missus i got the go ahead for some floorstanders
then i mentioned seperates would be the way forward, so i blew the budget out of the window and got some Mission M73 speakers and a Cambridge Audio CD and Amp setup..

straightaway the difference is clear, this is the sound i am looking for, taught bass, clarity at top end, excellent balance throughout the range ... after xmas i will add a tuner but for now i am happy .. and i now beleive what they say, one box systems dont come close to seperates ..
