    Interference on scart socket..

I have a wee telly in my room for watching of the DVDs. Unfortunately, I get RF interference ghosting behind the picture when I'm viewing the DVD over the scart connection.

The scart plug is right next to the aerial connection - I'm thinking it may be an intrinsic design flaw - or would it be the cable itself being rubbish?

We had that too.....got so bad wre used the Svideo input on the side, cos during DVD's we could hear the set top box Was SO bad I could hear the other channels loud enough to know what was going on on Eastenders
and then, I swapped all the cables around to do something else, and it went away. Same cables,...bemused to this day.

    and never ever returned.

What happens when you pull the aerial lead out? Anyway, scart leads can be pretty prone to ghosting effects if they're badly shielded. Try wrapping a bit of tinfoil round the plug and the bit of the lead nearest the telly. If that doesn't help, try a better scart lead with some beefier internal shielding.

tried a beefier scart... not much difference... I got the aerial coming through the VCR into the telly.. and the noise only goes away once I unplug the VCR.. just taking the plug out of the telly doesn't work...

It is very close to a power cable? Sometimes they can cause ghosting.

Have you tried an aerial cable that has an interference apsorption block which may also make a difference. We have a range of profigold cables that do. But I couldn't guarantee it would fix your problem.

This is the setup on the back - it's only a wee portable jobby, so hasn't got any S-video or anything... the power is over the other side of the box..

it could actually be the telly

bare with me on this one

some scart leads have a pin, or something, to allow a signal to go thru that says 'look at me'. now maybe, if the tv is switched to scart 2, but the vhs is on scart 1 and is sat there going 'look at me', maybe the tv gets confused and puts both thru? it used to happen on a cheap scart switch box i had..

naa that aint it.. I've only got the one cable - it gets swapped between the VCR and DVD as required. The telly's only got the one socket... I don't get RF interference when watching a VHS over the scart either. Just DVD.

I'm just wondering if its just that the cables are to close together with little shielding on each.

You could also try a flat scaert cable such as this Flat Scart Lead

Is it possible that its the frequency that the VCR is set to thats causing it?

personally id upgrade a little , get a little 20 inch with built in dvd , there so cheap now its daft not
even one without a dvd drive would do i hate small screens even if its rarely used
