    5.1 Speaker Setup

I've just got myself some Logitech X530 5.1 Speakers, and work fine with the 6 Speaker surround sound test file. Thing is, when playing music from winamp, it only comes from the front left and right speakers, and the sub. Is this just what happens with music playback, or have I done something wrong? All 6 speakers would be nice

music is stereo.. 2 channel music shouldnt be played on 6 speakers. Thats why SACD and DVDA were invented

(btw for all you pervs DVDA isnt what you think, it's DVD-Audio)

there is a plugin to solve this problem, if you try an MP3 in WMP and it does 5.1 you need to get the winamp plugin from winamp.com to allow 5.1 playback (simulated)

    Got a creative card ?
If so, go into the CMSS control panel and set the mode to 'duplicate stereo', (or its along the same lines anyway). Dont bother using CMMS 1 or 2, it sounds rubbish.
That will mirror anything thats stereo into the rear 2 speakers.
This will make it work in all software that has stereo, such as old-school games, not just one application

Nvidia / Realtek APU's often have a clone function in their control panel which will get you sound on RL and RR from any audio.

Yep both Creative's and Nvidia's drivers offer a "clone" mode. I personally think it sounds horrible and always listen to music on my PC in normal stereo through the 5.1 setup
