    capturing video via dvi

ok here is the problem. im using pinnacle studio 9 and nero vision express to try to encode my video clips from my sony dv camcorder.. everytime i encode it into my laptop, the size of the video file is HUGE!!!!! i encoded 14mins of footage and that alone took nearly 3gb of space!!

the question is what is the best way in doing this? how can i encode my videos to a lesser file size while keeping the quality the same??

i notice how some avi/divx films can sometimes take less then 1gb for a whole movie.. how can i apply this technique into my video clips?

You need to encode the video you have into a compressed format such as Divx or even Xvid ( Open source varient ).

The best place to check for tools and guides on how to do this is http://www.videohelp.com

    Hope this helps
