Seemingly faulty Sennheiser HD570s..

I've had this pair of headphones for juuust over a year and they've been absolutely splendid throughout. Honestly the best pair of headphones I've ever used. Until recently, that is.

One morning, I put on my headphones to listen to a bit of music and there seemed to be no sound coming from the phones. I have a fiddle and discover that there actually is sound coming from them, but it's extremely quiet and very tinny.

I checked to see whether it was the motherboard, but it wasn't, and another set of headphones (the missus' HD515) work fine (albeit seriously uncomfortable in comparison!). So it is my headphones that are faulty.

Now, I actually have no idea what may be wrong with them. I've had a little fiddle with the cable, checked the connection and all that but I can't see anything wrong. There were no tell-tale signs that something may be due to fail soon (crackling or the cable being funny or whatnot). Perhaps it's the speakers themselves? If anyone has any advice I'd gratefully appreciate it.

I am gonna guess at a knackered cable which IS replaceable on those 'phones.

If the eartch becomes shared instead of seperate per channel) it MAY lower the volume,

BUT....try plugging then into summit else first

HD570's are the best ..worth sorting.

Thank you very much for the reply Zakk I actually bought them on your recommendation, so your input is appreciated.

I've tried them on the television and mp3 player, but I'm afraid we're not having any luck. Funnily enough I can't even afford a replacement cable at the moment, but as soon as I can I'll be testing it and updating this post

You are right though - HD570s are amazing. Whilst they're still a bit busted at the moment, I've grown so fond of them that I wear them anyway. Keeps the ears warm when the window's open! If the new cable doesn't work, I've promised myself a pair of HD600s for christmas... hopefully it won't come to that, but either way I still win :>
