the detail will be better, however other areas - colour accuracy, black levels and the like will still fall short.

as for exclusively watching hd material, even with a media centre hooked up, the actual source material is unlikely to be hd - granted, sky is starting trials next year, but with slow roll-out and no hd-movie format agreed the only reliable source for hd entertainment for the next year or so will be the next-gen consoles..

wish they'd bring out OLED tvs that would kick both CRT and LCDs butts repeatedly.

TiG, that JVC looks nice, Currys do it as a web exclusive for £1018, but I guess they might have it in store to view for a more expensive price, it would be nice to see it first. Where is the best place to buy an HDTV online anyway? As I presume you couldn't get the same sort of deal in a store as online? (The nearest Richer Sounds is 200 miles away from me).

RDL, i'm lucky in the sense that i've got a place called future home near me, they only have one retail outlet but are very competitive on price (right nearme 500meters from my house)

I'm going to go in on Saturday with my 360 and my Shuttle and play with 3 screens in the hope that my real world experience of all my favoured 3 in real life will give me the best experience.

If you aren't buying before then i'll post up a detailed thread with my findings

I think you can get that price. I went in to Currys locally armed with a print out of their offer price online for a plasma, and said I am just looking for picture comparison as I will buy on line as its cheaper, and the salesperson said no problem we can match that. Looking on their screen while going through the details of purchase there seemed all manner of different discount options they can provide for whatever reason (price match etc)

A mate from Comet (store manager) recommended the Toshiba to me yesterday, so I'm going in to check it out tomorow and see what I think.

Well turns out the Samsung is actually at Cafe Lan in Aberdeen, and I played the 360 on both the 50" model and the 32", it's pretty neat actually, waiting on Tigs review first before I purchase though.

Right, I'm definately getting the Samsung, however at the moment getting the 32" model seems to be next to impossible, no one has it! I was thinking of just biting the bullet and going for the 42" at an extra £400ish, but one question, I've noticed the 32" available in different versions, "Rome" and "Greenwich" spring out. What is the difference? They appear to be the same, but the Greenwich is £50 more (looking on Dabs currently). Is this where they are manufactured or what?

    Ta,
    Ross.

I would take the 42" at the extra price for sure. You will only have yourself to thank in about a years time Trust me.
