Advice on Surround sound system for XBox 360

    Hi All

Since buying me a nice ickle 360 I've been wanting to take advantage of the optical out on the audio/visual cable from the 360

So here's what I want: a 5.1/7.1 surround sound system with optical in for sub £100....

Can it be done? I heard that the creative inspire 5700's had this but I think they cost around £140-150

    Any ideas/advice?

    Thanks

The combined DVD+HC market seemed to have killed that market. Now its either separates, PC Speakers (ie no digital unless high end) and the all in ones inc DVD players.

There are a few exceptions kicking around, but I'm finding them hard to find.

Could be okay, shame they don't do any recognisable makes though.

Yeah they do Panasonic and Wharfdale but they're out of my budget - no "proper" audio stuff but tbh I wasn't after real good stuff

I actually got this but need to buy an optical cable for it. Its plugged in aux for the mo and the sound is actually pretty nice

Its fairly loud, with decent bass and the clarity is pretty good too - can't complain for £89.99

Superfi are having a sale now. Chances are most systems will start at 200ish..but you'll get something decent... Check out the Denon 'mini' systems - not sure if they are surround sound tho. I got into this with a budget of £1000 and I've spent close to £5500 hahah....

good luck and do what gunbuster said

Side note there are a couple of brand name £100+ systems. One by Sony which is effectively a separates starter kit and the TSS-15 by Yamaha. I doubt either would be stellar by bsodmike's standards.

Personally being that those systems should be covered by Argos's returns it might be worth a punt. It is a shame the £50 LG systems from Richersounds and Ebuyer are no longer available.

I would suggest trying to pickup a second hand amp and speakers from a forum member, I bought an "all in one" system Denon DHT 500SD although it is very good I wish Id gotten an amp as all my inputs are used up and I would of really liked 2 optical inputs
