apart from the fact you cant hear anything at all presumably?

But i agree completely my shure E2C's are superb, would rank as one of my best purchases of recent times. Pricey mind, and not suited to the OP's mum for this reason, but if others can afford em..... well ive not heard any better.

unbelievable sound though. Use them for pro audio monitoring, esp on stage
Yea.. I didn't suggest them because they are obviously outside the stated budget here

The Koss plug isn't that highly regarded to be honest. Amongst the Koss products, the Porta Pro, KSC-35 and KSC-75 are the more highly regarded. Well, the SportaPro/KSC-50 next.

About the E2C.. Seems like you are one of those people who got used to canal phone with ease. I'd venture to say it is not for everyone though. It took me some time to adjust to the Westone UM2. Those are the equivalent of the E5C (same drivers), with some modifications to it.. and supposed to be more confortable. But even then, I couldn't leave them in my ear for longer than 30-45min at the beginning.

The Soundwise G3 has a few diffrent size earpieces, sounds good and is built to last. I don't actually own a pair. I have the soundwise e2, which I love. I read a review of the G3 on lord percy.

I also have a pair of Audio Tecnica ec7 earphones. These would probably be the best for your mum. They hang down from the ear and are supported like a very light pair of glasses.
