The two major next-generation disc formats, HD DVD and Blu-ray, are fighting for consumer support and compatibility with Windows Vista will be key to their success. Microsoft is backing HD DVD but head-honcho Bill Gates allegedly went public the fact that the Vista operating system could be made compatible with the rival Blu-ray format.

seems crazy to me that Sony wouldn't want to give Microsoft the technical details of how to get it working in Vista.
