    Lens buying advice for EOS

I'm off to Taiwan in a month or so for our Computex coverage and I'm planning on taking some shots of the city and its people, but most of all I want to take some shots from the top of the Taipei 101, the world's tallest building.

The kit lens for my 350D -- 18-55m -- won't cut it in the slightest, I fear, so some advice from you lot on the best lens to take with me for the kind of panoramic landscape stuff I imagine being possible from up there.

I've got a budget just shy of £300 for that lens, so no more than that if possible. And what about a lens for the in-city stuff? Kit lens just about do?

    Thanks in advance!

I was thinking about Sigma's AF 10-20 F/4-5.6 with Canon mount for ~£250. Anyone had experience with this lens or one like it, for landscape work?

yeah if you look in matt harpers scottish invasion thread posted a couple of days ago in creative most of that (if not all) was done with his 10-20mm sigma only on the nikon mount for his d70

its a stupidly wide lens and i know he was impressed at the time he bought it and hes still using it so i assume he's happy with it

i was going to suggest the same i use this lens and i love it to bits. the tokina 12-24 i think is a little sharper, but mine seems very very sharp as it is and is very wide at 10mm and has very low CA so id still go for the sigma again and again.

here's a few example from it for you:

can't really find any normal landscapes, i havent been out with it on any trip[s like that since i've had it. hopefuly will in the summer.

I think the Sigma is top of my list then! Field of view looks great, it stays nice and sharp at the extremities and isn't heart breakingly expensive. Cheers guys!
