Replacement USB/charging cable for Sony NW-A1000

Does anyone know where I can get a reaplcement USB/charge cable for the Sony NW-A1000 MP3 player? My local Sony store says Sony are out of stock until at least November.

Why oh why can't they be like iRiver (i.e. no funky connectors, just a standard USB lead).

Regrettably not, the cable that comes with that is only useful for data transfer. You still need the cable that came with the unit to charge it.

I have one packed up ready to go back to my local Sony shop, very disappointing.

You would have to buy them from Sony spare parts and I bet they would cost a fortune. When my remote control for my minidisc player broke I went to the sony shop to ask how much one would be and they said £50-60! That's like half the amount the player was to begin with! I really hate how Sony use all proprietry crap. I have the NW-A3000 and I hate having to use Sonic Stage to put music on it. I am never buying Sony again.

Ah but sony minidisc players were great IMO, the sound quality was so much better than my current Sony HD1.

Whats the connector like on the charge cable? On my HD1 dock its just a standard round power cable
