    set top freeview box

I'm looking for a set top PVR freeview box with the card slot, along the lines of a Humax 9200, & I also want to be able to connect to it via my PC to schedule recordings etc, and view them.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

Have a look at the Topfield 5800 as I think this is the only one that can connect to a PC. If it can't and you still want one then I'd suggest the Thomson PVR that was on sale at Argos for 100 notes.

BTW why do you want to link the PVR to a PC when you can schedule the recordings from the user guide on your TV?

So I don't have to wander downstairs

so read that as... complete and utter laziness?

Well if you can overcome your laziness then I suggest a far cheaper PVR like the Thomson I recommended On a practical note you're not going to be able to get a cable long enough to connect the PVR downstairs to your PC cause AFAIK they're all USB.

Tivo's have a network (and memory) card add on, i'm suprised they could be the only one out there, and they're discontinued now. And they don't have the card slot. Burger.

I think most PVR manufacturers are banking on you slobbing in front of the TV rather than upstairs in front of your PC

damn. My PC monitor is WAY nicer than my easily 5+ year old given to me for free TV.
