I am currently trying to wangle out of the Sky HD contract. I feel ripped off paying £10 per month in addition for what I can only describe as a real lack of content. Unless the volume of content increases rapidly I'll be stopping my additional £10
Yes
No

It is Inevitable.....
If i enjoyed paying a load of money to be bombarded with zillions of adverts every 4 seconds, then i would get Sky. Unfortunately, I'm one of those odd people that detests Sky - either gives us ad-free paid for content, or free add-funded viewing, but paying to see adverts makes me sick. It's painful, i just can't endure it and everytime i have been at someones house who has it, i just want to scream everytime there is yet another overly long add break that spoils the enjoyment of a great repeat. Freeview and DVD's do me just fine. If i ever need anymore TV than that, I would seriously have to consider what i am doing with my life.
Paying even more for HD is even more of a turn off for me. Why should we? It takes little extra time or money to produce HD content - whatever they tell you, as most programs are filmed in a "HD" format anyway. I understand the extra cost in getting a HD reciever, but no way can they justify the extra cost. Bah, no thanks...

Autopilot: Thats what the Sky+ functionality is for
Never watch anything on sky as its being broadcast, either record it and watch it in your own time or wait until 20 mins after the program starts and rewind the channel.
Both ways mean you can fast forward passed the adverts

I just wish you could get the complete Discovery network without having to get Sky in the UK
I'd pay about a tenner a month just for that if i could use it with a regular satelite dish and STB (or CAM module and DVB-S card). That and the over 100 other free chanels you can get on non-Sky satelite would do me fine
A BiOrb if i am not mistaken, What type of fish do you have in there?
Anyway back on topic, I have seen $ky HD, and I was unimpressed too, the fact that there were signs of low bandwidth truly shocked me , the price people pay for $ky HD should ensure that there is no blockiness or artifacts. That said normal $ky TV suffers from the same problem, although as a previous poster said, the movie channels do look better but not as good as they should be (although that probably is impossible with the ammount of bandwidth $ky has)
I am happy with my Tv Drive not prepared to pay the high premium. Ilove watching the movies and tv shows on our demand service on high def. no big on sports but loved watching the world cup
I like the recording features of the TV drive and for 310 extra it is well worth it.
