Just got Sky HD installed - have you?

Well the guys finally came round to install Sky HD today after a massive two month wait from ordering with another company due to Sky not doing installs in my area or something like that.

I'm loving it and the HD content I have seen so far has blown me away especially the content on National Geographic HD channel.

Here is what my current Sky HD setup looks like



So that brings me onto the question, how many of you now have Sky HD installed and what are your thoughts?

Hey, I've only (relatively) recently gotten Freeview! I'm still used to having four channels!

Nice setup Nick, I'd love Sky HD but I dont watch enough telly to justify the cost, I'm a DVD man myself

No I haven't got Sky HD - Sky+ costs me far too much now and I can't justify the cost of the new box and the extra montly donation to the murdoch empire (on top of the cost of a new HD set). In fact, I'm hoping to dump sky once IPTV products launch later in the year - it's just not good value for money.

Nope & it costs far too much for me to buy into it atm. My Humax HDCI 2000 and Pinnacle Showcentre satify all my HDTV needs at present. And it does this for less money and alot better quality.

Nah, I don't have Sky HD, cause at present, I haven't got anything to view it on. The only HD screen in my house is on my laptop - 1680x1050, so not much use for viewing sky

No install here either. I detest Sky and all the junk channels it has onboard. Having to pay through the nose for HD was a definite no no for me. I decided to go with a Freeview PVR and haven't looked back. It's not HD but the upscaler in my TV does a good job. I save the HD stuff for the XBox 360

I also like most people cant justify the costs to get Sky HD installed therefore for the time being I am still using Freeview intergrated within the Dell 37" TV I have

When I move in with the girlfriend alter this year we're getting Sky + but depending on any deals Sky HD may be an option, we'll have to see nearer the time.

I have had it since the first install day (seems a while ago now) after pre-ordering...

It started off great.....the PQ was breathtaking......the BBCs World Cup coverage on the BBC HD test channel was truely excellent....

As the time has gone on though, Sky have started over-compressing the streams more and more and now most of the HD content is starting to look BAD. Blocks/patterns/macroblocking, especially in the Premiership games (inc Prem Plus HD)

The movie channels still look good (I presume they give them more bandwidth) but otherwise they took a top-notch service and have reduced the quality of it after the firt few weeks.

They need to be taken to court over it IMO, their advertising was "4 times the detail" (or something similar) and at the moment it certainly is NOT delivering that!

I was round at my friends with Sky HD at the weekend, I really wasnt overly impressed by it, i was all ready to order it, watching the footie on sunday, it looked good, but not THAT good.

It gave me a headache too!
