TV Card to record sky on my pc

I have Sky and want to know if its possible to buy a internal card or external add on to allow me to record programmes direct from sky on to my hard drive and then burn to DVD if i wish to keep?

If not anyone recommend and external DVD/HD recorder

    Cheers

    you've got two options:

    1) use an MPEG2 card such as a hauppage pvr150 to record the input from a sky box, and an IR blaster to send channel change codes to allow the pc to change channels on the sky box

    2) *THIS OPTION IS CONSIDERED DODGY BY MANY* use a technotrend tt-1500s card, with the plug-in CI slot. buy a DRAGON CAM, and program it to emulate Sky's encryption mechanism. insert youir sky viewer card, hook the sat cable to the tv card, voila. you'll need to put the card back into the skybox periodically as it phones home to sky to confirm your subscription is active & authorized

in both cases, you can use whatever recording app you prefer
