    Lightbulb Memory compatibility question.

    I have a AMD Phenom x4.

My motherboard is a m4a79xtd evo, i would like to know if this memory is compatible.

Also will it make a big performance difference to my current standard DDR3 1333mhz 9-9-9-24 CL9?

    Many Thanks.

    Re: Memory compatibility question.

If you run it at CAS7 and 1600, your system should feel a bit snappy or responsive. Also, in some memory intensive operations, you may see as much as a 2% - 5% gain in performance. However, the difference will not be huge and will mostly been seen in synthetic benchmarks.

    Re: Memory compatibility question.

Can my normal corsair memory be overclocked? Also if so to what speeds from 9-9-9-24?

The ONLY way to know is to try it.

What would you recommend setting it at?

    Re: Memory compatibility question.

You'll need to decide that on your own. We can only recommend the rated voltages and timings for the memory.

Is that not helping you? Corsair can't possibly say what the RAM can be OC'ed to as it can depend on the system you have.

Get off your high horse and be thankful that they have replied. You could use google if you really are that desperate for an answer.

I can't tell you to raise the voltage above the rated specification because that is violating the warranty. If you want to try to run it out of specification in any way, that has to be your decision. EVERY set of modules will be unique. What works for one set on one given motherboard may not work with another. Therefore, you will need to test the OCing for yourself.

If this answer is not sufficient, feel free to use our Corsair forum and you'll get essentially the same answer from RAM GUY:

    Have a nice day.
