Still doesn't show it im afraid Its that which opens up the voltage changing options, but the only actual voltage display shown is the CPU.

I just tried that game again, and again it crashed after about 25 minutes That was with the extra power lead in the Motherboard too. So I've eliminated one thing atleast. Im going to try it again now with the sound disabled. If it crashes again.. I'll take my graphics card out and look for the resister number with a magnifying glass. That will be two more things eliminated. Will post again soon.

I found the solution! Feel like I wasted everyones time I have learned a lot anyway though.

The problem is something to do with the SoundBlaster X-Fi. I had tried everything including using MSConfig to disable everything etc.. But if you run the game with -nosound after it, it runs the game with no sound and it didn't crash in its usual place... Im pretty sure it will be the same reason for that other game I have too.

    So summary:

    1) Corsair RAM is working great
    2) Gigabyte DS4 doesn't let me use the proper memory timings, but it doesn't really matter - and hopefully they will provide a bios update sometime that fixes that stuff.
    3) My games crash because of the SoundBlaster (which I'm sure I can fix now that I know what the cause is).
    4) The extra power input on the DS4 Motherboard for dual graphics cards, is not needed with an 8800GTX (so I'll unplug that again).
    5) The errors in MemTest are only on the user defined tests which most motherboards dont support. The main test is all fine and thats what matters.

Anyway, thank you everyone for your help! Especially Yellowbeard. Not sure if you work for Corsair or are a volunteer or something, but I'll make all your speedy help worth your while

I'm going to buy another 2 gig of Corsair RAM when Vista is released (so I have 4 gig total). And my friend is about to buy a new PC, and I'll make sure he gets some nice Corsair RAM. But more importantly, I'll tell the entire internet that Corsair RAM is great and Corsair have been really helpful (particularly this site) and Yellowbeard (and other community members) helped me, even when the problem started looking like something other than the RAM!

p.s. I'm going to edit this thread title a bit so it doesn't give people the wrong impression, in case any potential customers came here or something.. I'll leave the bulk of the rest the same though.

Thanks again everyone! Let me know if I can do anything to help (with testing anything etc..) now that you know what my specs are.

In MIT you should have DIMM overvoltage & Easy Tune 5 shows VDIMM iirc

Ahhh yes EasyTune5 did you're right. Unfortunately I uninstalled that because it had a few bugs, and one day I got scared that it was overclocking something without my...consent So I dont have that on anymore

As for MIT, what is that? All this stuff is new to me so I'm a bit out of touch with some of this new hardware and software

Ahhhh! I see where the voltage is now. I saw the wierd number and I think I just assumed that was talking about something else But now that I look at it in your picture, I notice its 18 which probably just means 1.8 volts.

I will just reboot now and see what mine says, and then I'll come back and post That will be another mystery solved anyway

Thanks for that! Be right back.

Ok so I found that page, its called PC Health Status on a DS4. It has the same number too, DDR18.

Wierdly though... when I change my "DDR2 OverVoltage Control" and change it to +0 or +0.1 or +0.2 or +0.3 etc.. and then reboot, that number doesn't change from DDR18.

Is that me doing something wrong? Or is that just another example of this motherboard being a bit incomplete and needing another bios upgrade?

afaik the 1.8V is standard & you have to add the overvoltage yourself to work out what it's really at.
Or if you have a hardware monitoring programme in Windows (Gigabyte's, Everest, Speedfan, CPU-Z etc.) that should show it.

btw, what BIOS version are you on?

Ahhhh that makes sense! I am on BIOS F6 which is the latest.

By the way, I just realised something! (Someone reminded me on the corsair forum....).

Now that my problem with those games is fixed... I should probably set my RAM timings back to 4-4-4-12! I am pretty sure it always worked.... I just assumed it didn't because of the crash I was having. But now I know the crash was sound related, I think the RAM works at its proper faster speed on my PC, once I've set it up! So I will do that again, and I'll post back if I have any problems, but I'm pretty sure it will work

I should ask one last question though... Would you all suggest I just change it to 4-4-4-12 and then change the voltage? Or should I change the other options too? (like "Write to Precharge Delay", and "BANK cycle time (TRC)" etc?).

    Thanks guys

Actually BIOS F8 is the latest:

FSB overclocking has been improved a lot

That one is for the GA-965P-DS4 (rev. 1.0) and mine is rev. 2.0.

I'm not sure what the difference is, but when I select the 2.0, the latest bios is F6 Hopefully there will be a new one soon anyway. I think my RAM is working well now anyway. It is listed as 4-4-4-12 in both the bios and in windows and it seems stable.

    Wow, thank you!

I think I was looking at the 965d instead of 965P.

Thats great! I'll get that now and let you know if anything changes.

Bios at F8 now It seems a bit better actually, in the bios now, it shows all the settings for the ram speeds. Even all the obscure settings like "Refresh to Act Delay" and stuff, all have numbers next to them now

I'm still getting this annoying crash problem though in a few games Grrr I am starting to suspect my video card again now. Did a stress test all night which worked, but im still not sure about it because after it resets itself, the screen sometimes goes blank until I reset it again... Going to take me forever to figure this out.
