dual core 3.3 phenom 2 went to 3.78 and unlocked to QUAD CORE!! , without running any stress tests what are the chances are these lasting to be stable? this was using the MSI core unlocker in the bios and the OC genie.

Unlocked mine some time ago and never had an issue. To be fair I don't think I would be stressing the CPU before it was unlocked so nowhere near stressed now.
Core unlocking is not to do with stressing, at least not directly.
it's called stress TESTING for a reason, you are testing the component under high stress situations which are most likely to show up faults, it doesn't mean that the faults are not there when not under high stress.
In fact it coould be far worse under light load as faults might be intermittent which would leave you with a randomly unstable system.
An unlocking is not successful unless it can hold up under stress testing.
And the success will be down to the reason for the binning of that individual cpu.
