This looks like the 3DMark score for the RX480:

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/11263084

Seems between an R9 390 and a R9 390X. The clockspeed is again 1266MHZ like the AOTS run.

    Edit!!

AMD is also going to present more details about Zen at Hot Chips on the 23rd of August.

    Re: AMD - Piledriver chitchat

In the OcUK Polaris thread a few of the R9 290X,R9 390 and Fury owners tried to do their own runs with the latest drivers. The 3DMark11 score did seem quite close to a R9 290X running at 1171MHZ on a Haswell Core i7 4790K locked at 4GHZ(the RX480 is running on a Core i7 4770). It is definitely higher than an R9 290X running at stock speeds.

Considering a 390 is still ~£250+, that makes this card pretty serious value for money.

Said to be an HP specific board, so a bit odd. Not single channel at least!

    Interesting:

Apparently AMD might have had boxes with Zen APUs running at CES and it seems to have a new logo too.

    Re: AMD - Piledriver chitchat

Exactly the kind of thing that will bite them in the behind if they release further generations of chips at high clockspeed/TDP in order to compete. Makes sense for Polaris, but will it for Vega and Zen?

Vega is meant to improve performance/watt over Polaris. Zen is meant to be restricted to a 95W TDP supposedly!!

I'm certain it will, but that doesn't mean they won't run it hot if they need the performance!

For now, yep Awaiting a black edition down the line though

Considering the 8C/16T Intel desktop chips are 140W TDP currently,I think they are safe. But I think you need to read the whole article instead of latching onto one part! Seems,RTG is a bigger reorganisation than I thought. The R9 series cards only ran hot due to the reference cooler being meh,but with better coolers they were fine. The GTX780TI could almost hit 85C on the reference cooler with some of the later updates - the whole heat thing was because Nvidia PR paid for cards for reviewers and highlighted the quiet mode issues. As I even said at the Kepler launch, the boost probably would have some issues, and Nvidia cards had throttling problems over long runs especially with reference coolers - AMD PR was so rubbish they never highlighted it. So many sites(including Hexus) had to change their review methods in light of this.

Actually reading that article,I actually think RTG might be a bit more proactive in the PR stakes, which is what AMD really needs. Its about time they had sharper focus, and I get the feeling we might start to see that again.

    Re: AMD - Piledriver chitchat

I did read it of course, but I was not impressed. PR is good, but they need to keep a consistent long term message, hence my point about the danger of a reverse in position if they go that way for vega etc.

The thing I'm most happy about is the supposed power in the hands of the consumer with regard overclocking/voltages etc. We'll see how that pans out.

Could be, or they could just be acknowledging that partner-designed RX 480 cards may exceed the mooted $229 launch price by a significant margin. OTOH there's rumours out there about there being a "fully enabled" Polaris 10 card with significantly more shaders than the RX 480, and a $299 launch price would be a reasonable differentiator from RX 480...

RX 460 is probably the most interesting to me though, tbh (I always did like my bus powered cards). Be very interested to see where it lands in terms of performance; price-wise it looks like it'll be the $100 card which means it'll almost certainly be on the step-son's radar (his GTX 750 can't quite keep up with Dark Souls 3, apparently...).
