It appears that AMD pdf was updated and has a picture of Zen in it now:

    Re: AMD - Piledriver chitchat

Those Zen performance graphs are, as usual for marketing slides, pretty useless as they don't say what they represent (IPC, single or multithread performance?), the scale, or where zero is. xD

Have you seen the 3DMark ones here: http://hexus.net/tech/news/laptop/93...x-beating-gpu/

Look at those massive differences between the cards! Except the scale starts at 19,800, and the highest score is around 20,800. Accurate graph for those figures provided below:

Not such a noticable difference, is it...

Yeah that's a pretty bad case of graph abuse!

The thing is, a lot of the differences you see in technology reviews are small enough to be not noticeable without benchmarking, and yet they create such a fuss!

    Re: AMD - Piledriver chitchat

I reckon they just put the numbers in Excel and styled the graph before exporting it - I had to force Excel to start the x-axis at 0; it automatically sets it to 19,800! Coincidence? I think not!

Over on that HardOCP thread somebody found a link to this tech site:

    http://iyd.kr/978

It seems to the one DGLee is on.

It has pictures from where the Macau event is being hosted - it looks really plush!!

Also,a picture of the NDA being signed - it says 29th June 9AM ET.

really hope they don't pull an AMD and force the tech reviewers to sit on NDAs until after the card is available. (On the other hand, the alternative of late availability.. where's that october rumour gone?.. aren't much better)

    Re: AMD - Piledriver chitchat

It seems HardOCP didn't get invited to Macau and is raging at AMD:

    http://www.hardocp.com/article/2016/...ey_in_futility

I find it funny he says that since AMD Polaris cannot compete with the GTX1080 it is in "trouble" - yet AMD for month has been saying it is a more mainstream part and it has all but been confirmed it is a 232MM2 part and the GP104 is around 35% to 40% larger.

Plus Macau is not that far from Taiwan where CES is being held.

No wonder with the crap article he posted which was supposedly in the works for a while. AMD has stated for months that they were releasing Polaris in the middle of the year and multiple sources seem to confirm its a 232mm2 GPU. So how can a 232mm2 GPU manage to compete with a 314mm2 one?? AMD stated they were looking for a lower tier market,MONTHs ago and AMD seems to be targetting performance/watt in their presentations. So he is trying to spin it as some failure since it won't compete with the GP104,ie,the GTX1080 and that AMD were shocked it was 25% faster than a GTX980TI and now they have to reduce the price to make it competitive....right!!

If you read the comments section, people pointed out the die size differences and he then said according to engineers he talked to,they said GF 232MM2 was equivalent to 300mm2 TSMC 16NM!! People then showed him repeatedly that the difference was only 8% and that many of the actual measurements in NM were nowhere near 30% and he deflected all of it.

If you look at Barts XT in the HD6870 and Pitcairn in the HD7870,they were 255mm2 and 212mm2 and Polaris 10 is 232mm2 - for such a longterm tech "journalist" he is really ignorant of some facts.

So the guy has pumped Polaris 10 as a GTX1080 competitor and now it does not compete with the GTX1080,it is some failure?? Either he is being disingenuous or is a fool.

More like being a fool, im thinking polaris is going to on par with the fury line up but starting at around £180-£250

Why would anyone in the AMD thread care how poor nVidia is?

Like we have been only discussing AMD in this thread lol. I could always make a bigger deal of it in the GTX1070 thread?

But if Nvidia have issues with DX12 performance it means AMD will probably feel less likely to want to compete on price/performance.
