Re: Best sub £20 CPU cooler

Bonebreaker777, without a doubt, a Zalman CNPS10X Optima or a Raijintek Themis would be superior to any other cooler under £20 mentioned in this thread.

If the case does not allow clearance for one of these coolers, I suggest you get a Deepcool Gammaxx S40 or a Xigmatek Loki II.

Although over £20 i would personally get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. like Jimbobgod1969 suggested.

They should all cool a 95W chip pretty fine especially the CNPS10X Optima

    Zalman Optima it is then.

I checked eBay for second hands but nothing would grab my attention either performance or price wise.

I'd 2nd pastymuncher here and there's a few more you can add to the list.

One thing is case size, make sure it's big enough to fit the cooler, you'll need at least 160mm from the top of the cpu to side panel to fit most 120mm fan based tower coolers

if the case is too small for a 120mm fan based tower cooler, then look for Thermalright Ultima90, scythe mine, Akasa X4 AK-968

Unfortunately I couldn't see the case, neither ask the existing owner. I bought the Zalman CNPS10X Optima based on the liking of the owner. If it will not fit the case, will replace the cooler in his exiting PC, which I haven't seen either but apparently is pretty big... so.

Go with the Cooler Master 212 Evo, only £24.96 at Amazon. Best bang for buck air cooler on the market I believe and use one myself!

Re: Best sub £20 CPU cooler

I've just listed an unused (new) DeepCool Lucifer cooler here in the classifieds section. It's quite a hefty beast and is too big for my case! Supposed to be a brilliant cooler for the price though .

If you can't stretch to the 212 evo, then the Raijintek Themis is a good cheaper alternative.

The barrage of 212 recommendations is wholly warranted.

Massively (over?)hyped and for good reason.

I've got the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 for my i5-4590. Never goes above 50c when gaming.

Can recommend the Raijintek Themis. Solid.

The DeepCool Lucifer is probably the best bang for buck you will find but they seemed to have stopped selling them. Not sure.

I'm currently using a cooler master hyper tx3, on amazon these are going for around £17. since buying it I've noticed a large noise and temp difference so I'm assuming it's doing its job properly haha

I still have a spare HSF, in my loft if you would consider a used one.

It's an NZXT Havik 140, it covers sockets 1155, 1156 and 775, if you're interested you can either pick it up from me at work or maybe I could drop it off to you but not till Thursday or Friday. PM if you're interested.
