    1156 Socket CPU fit a 1150 socket MoBo ?

hey.. I'm upgrading my Mobo but don't really want to upgrade my CPU(I5-760 @ 2.8GHz) will my current CPU socket 1156 fit a 1150 Mobo ?

Also is it worth upgrading i5 760 to i5 4690k ? what kinda of performance upgrade is it.

    It will not fit.

Is it worth it? Are you bottlenecked by anything right now? Why do you want to upgrade?

Re: 1156 Socket CPU fit a 1150 socket MoBo ?

    No.

It might physically fit but it will not work.
The 1st gen core i cpu's where very different from the later ones, which are in many ways just refinements and improvements of the 2nd gen core i cpu's

As to performance upgrade, yes it's probably worth it, the original i5-760 wasn't too bad when overclocked but stock it wasn't much better than to core2quad

The socket has 6 less pins and even if it does work, most of Intel's Z97 tech will be wiped by the CPU.

You can't even put the CPU in the socket. They are entirely 'keyed' differently with plastic tabs to stop you from doing it....
