From my experience of laptops - best to take out the fan assemble fully(disconnect everything and don't let the wires still connect into the motherboard) and blow some air through the fins and the fans to clear the dust out. You might need to also manually clean the fan blades too.
Also after a few years the thermal compound or pad used can get a bit flaky,so replace that.

nope, only got the 1 year for budget reasons. (outlet special). Annoying as it developed a dead pixel last month. :(

Might be worth seeing if dust has gotten stuck in the area the impeller is mounted to the motor. Sometimes it can get jammed up that area.
