the LG L226WTQ does look like a better alternative presently @ £199 from scan or £211 from overclockers (apparently going on deal tomorrow)

I recently saw this in comet too, however...

By a long way it was the best display there. Very clear and very bright with excellent contrast.

Initially I was after a samsung 226bw but due to the panel lottery and after seeing both an s panel and this hp in the flesh I am getting the hp.

Me and my brother were looking for a 22" monitor and I am very confused to know what to go for. I like the look of the LG though but I heard something about blurry text somewhere anything else I should know about?

LG L226WTQ for the win, everything bad you read is about the pre-March models, before LG revised it.

Thanks. The LG also looks very nice as well with the base being in a glossy black finish. It would have been nicer all one colour though.

Just picked up one of the HP W2207 screens and it is a cracking display! Superb colours, clear and bright. No dead pixels either

I don't think I've seen a dead pixel on a new monitor for over a year now, many eairly manufactoring problems seem to be fixed these day

or I've been very very lucky

or CTX, Viewsonic and AG have been keeping very tight QA

Must say that the 17" Glass fronted AG NEOVO has been on of the niceest monitors it's been a pleasure to use.

The ViewSonic vp201b was very nice, but has the nasty habbit of overheating and dieing, I got one for my girl friend and it died after 2 months and so did the RMA replacement after another 9months
The vp201b has now been replaced by the vp2030b which has a thoughed palstic front (not glass like the vp201b) and lacks the 4 port usb hub of the vp201b, but it has more cooling vents, it's not getting as hot and is still going strong.

EDIT: over the past 2 years we've had around 30 CTX, 10 AG, 5 Viewsonics and I've yet to see a single dead pixel on any of them.

I bought the w2207 on Sunday - very, very happy with it - it replaced a 2 year old Viewsonic VP201S (1600x1200) TFT.

If anyone wants to know anything, or wants any pics posting, please don't hesitate to ask...

I got some Logitech Z10 speakers to match too

No, it was very pricey, about £80 for 3 years from memory.

I got mine from Tescos (direct website). £229, plus had a bonus 500 points voucher and a 5 quid off coupon that I got with my last set of clubcard vouchers and I collected it on my way home from work at my local store the next day so got no delivery charges, a fiver off, and 729 CC points worth another 7 quids worth of vouchers aswell - not bad!

Probably - like all the LCD tellies they have out in curries etc. They're all using default display settings so brightness and contrast are probably turned up so high that it all looks a mess. Perhaps they even had the wrong resolution selected (or even worse using D-SUB instead of DVI) so it was scaling the image making it even worse

As with any LCD TV/Monitor - take some time to calibrate it properly and the results will be much much better than the one on display in the shop
