Good 27 or 30inch monitor for photography and gaming?

    Hi.

Anyone recommend me a good IPS panel monitor that offers fantastic colour accuracy for photo editing, easy on the eye to read text and code, And finally for gaming in general.

budget is around £800 max for a high quality monitor.

I already have a Dell U2410 which is a fine monitor so anything as good if not better on a 27/30inch scale is ideal.

    Thanks

If you're happy with your Dell U2410 then why not consider the 27 (U2713HM or H) and 30 (U3014 is over budget at 940 odd though) inch Dell range? I have an old 3008 that's still serving me very well. They do suffer from more lag (think due to scaler) compared to some competitors but the colour reproduction is very good to excellent for the price range. Depends on the kind of games you play I guess? May not be ideal for FPS, which I don't play but I've never had issues with RPG and RTS style games.

i play FPS games so it must be able to cater for those fine.

the reason why i am not realy considering the dell is because i heard they have huge QC issues and there are better monitors out there now as dell is no longer top dog?

Admittedly I haven't looked at new monitor lines in a while and the few I do check out are usually at the 30" size range. Dell have always had QC issues which is why I usually wait until Rev 1 or 2 of the model when they've sorted most of the major flaws out. If you have deep pockets NEC have usually made better versions of the same panel. I might dig around and see what I can find. My sister might be moving to 27" (does a lot of photography work) in the next 6 months and I'm getting that itch to upgrade my old 30" just the sake of it now. I'll drop back if I find anything worthwhile.
