i believe that you dont need sm 3 as it can be done in sm 2b

unless you know of some hack that i don't then it definetely doesn't work on sm 2.0 cards, plenty of people complaining it doesn't run on x850 cards etc.

yeah it doesnt work, but i checked out about sm3 and ati's reasoning was that it could be done in 2b which is why it wasnt included hmm how annoying

Pretty much what Bee said about having the latest DirectX but also Nvidia users should make sure to install the 158.42 Forceware drivers or newer.

Also suggests turning off Concurrent Rendering if your experiencing hard lock crash/freeze during the game.

thanks guys, downloading the latest directx not sure if I already have it tho.. I know i've got the latest nVidia drivers

    [EDIT]
Thanks again, installed in the latest DX update fixed the problem

    [EDIT 2]
Glad it's working, seems like a cool game , averaged about 45-50FPS, on the performance test got highest was about 70...

The DX10 version looks awesome. Fantastic detail. I may try the DX9 version too just to compare.

Had to knock a few details down to medium and the effects res down to low (effects detail still on high though) to get it running nicely on mine. Ran it in 1024x768 and personally thought it looked really good with the settings I used.

For me this is going to be one to get definately. Seems like it is going to be a decent blast. Loved the insect boss, pretty huge and no time to waste with the clock ticking on what I guess is your thermal insulation.

The DX10 version runs fine at default settings, but if any thing's increased, it starts to feel a bit laggy.

I ran the performance test today and it killed my computer listed in 'My System'. Ran at default settings and 1024 x 768 in the snow scenes but the frame heavily dipped to around the 15 region in the cave section I installed the direct x 9 version on vista due to having a 6800 ultra, I didnt see the point of getting the dx 10 version. Hopefully that was the right choice.

Even with the DX update I couldn't get the DX10 version running on my system under Vista. Kept getting an error, so guessing that it is primarily for the cards that support it at the minute.

Have to wait and see what happens when the game is released.

You need the nvidia 158.43 beta drivers to get it to work.

I have ATI so using the latest forceware won't help me much at all!

ATI have said they had nothing to do with optimising the demo so I should imagine when the next driver set gets released the DX10 version will work properly for us.

is the my system bit on your profile up to date? (x1950)

    if so....erm you have a DX9 card, it won't run dx10

I tried the dx9 version....ran pretty smooth for a new game maxed out on my pc (bout 35 fps average)

Yeah my system is accurate. I was tinkering wondering whether the DX10 version would run under Vista 64bit using a DX9 card. Might try it again with the Catalyst 7.5 release as they have DX10 support.

I simply just like to tinker. The DX9 version runs nicely under Vista though. Must admit I do quite like the game. Question is do I get it for the 360 or PC.
