    Most NATURAL CONTROL setup EVER....

....well I have to take my hat off and say

Prince of Persia.....you are my all time "easy to learn, hard to master" console dream

I know you've all posted on this before, but yesterday I had my first chance to see what all the fuss is about.

HOW GOOD are the people who devised that control setup? Blimey..what a revelation

If Lara could muster even 10% of the logic and ease of use, she'd still be my favourite sprite..but the most recent Room Traider is just CACK....and in comparison....

I feel as though my innermost thoughts have been read, understood, digested and then plugged into a PS2 controller....

its just FANTASTIC to run, jump, swing and fight with...just a masterpiece.

If you haven't....then do......cos its soon gonna be a UK Law....Everyone MUST try Prince of Persia on PS2

    Nothing comes close

Yeah, when I describe Prince of Persia to my friends I always describe it as "Tomb Raider, but actually good".

Love the fighting system, love the acrobats system. All works very well.

The only downside is that some of the later fights take ages and are somewhat repetative due to the number of sand monsters.

But this is easily compensated for by the thrill of leaping from one collapsing platform to another, done of course with a great deal of panache. Being a Prince he has to be a bit flash with all that he does - ref cutscene where he gets the dagger of time.

Plus being able to play the original again is like finding a long lost brother, an annoying one maybe due to the pixel perfect jumps, but a treat just the same.....

Nah, its a totally new game.

the original PoP was famous for the superb animation used in it, a very very early form of motion capture... the programmers brother was the model iirc.

This time round they've really gone to town... the theme is the same, but bring it all up to date with 2004 GFX and a masterful bit of gameplay where you can control time and its something a tad special.

The first time you come across the sand demons in the big room is a bit much as you get swamped by them and what makes it worse is having to use the dagger to finish them off.

PC's control works ok after I remapped it to my usual mouse / keyboard combo but I'm thinking on starting it again (Just a few levels in) and use my sidewinder pad as it has the same amount of buttons as the PS2 pad.

Visually its extremely polished and plays amazing on my system. Even with the AA and AF disabled all edges are really smooth and image is very sharp (Pleased I went over to ATI !

On a side note I managed to get my 8x AGP working, I was thinking it was voltage on my board but it isn't. It has something to do with the newer Catalyst drivers. I contacted my board manufacturer (Soltek) and put it to them and they recommended going back to Catalyst 3.4. Done this and its ok, not sure if these drivers are DX9 conformant though.

PoP pissed me off, because i loved it but got into one of those nasty situations where my only savegame was seconds before the indian girl dies from an enemy in mid attack as i load, out of my reach. this meant that everytime i loaded (and i was about 12 hours into it), she died 0.5 seconds later.. i had a choice of ten day returns and restarting the game. i took the cash.

I can't stand the way that jump is only jump if you are on the edge of a gap, and is roll at other times... unless you are standing still, then its jump again. Just annoys me for some reason.

Looks good though, I'll try to get into it when I've finished Call of Duty on the hardest setting.

they sell'em in Game for £10, the adaptors look pritty solid, lol im tempted 2 get 1 of these adaptors and a second hand ps2 controller just to play MetalGear Substance and PoP on my PC properly.

(lol i think i deserve an award for completeing that shoddy MGS2 port while using a sidewinder and mouse for analoge lol controller in 1 hand, mouse in the other against Big Boss was no easy task )

inyteresting to hear people thoughts on this one....Iplayed for an hour yesterday and got a bit confused over when he would fall off edges and when he would stop and save himself....seems the first time you near and edge he saves you...then its down to you.

    Combat against multi-opponent is ace

I found if you run towards an edge and then press jump too late he drops and then catches the ledge, so you can climb back up. Though this doesn't work on corners and odd shaped ledges sometimes.
