Wouldn't surprise me!
just think of all those people who brought XT's for the free copy of HL2 i bet most of them wouldve upgraded video card by the time it comes out ! at least by the time it does the hardcore ones among us with have a nice system to run it on haha
I got an email from gameplay 3 days ago saying it's coming out on the 1/4/04.
Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
Alot of places like PLAY and HMV still have it down as March / April time. I should imagine its near completion now. They will release it around the same time as Doom 3 no doubt so people will choose one of them then get the other at a later date.
The release date will all be done with sales figures etc and competition on other big releases.
There are mutterings about September 24th. Don't be supprised if Valve make a statement soon, quoting that date.
If so, I can't be arsed anymore. I've got excited about the game loads of times now, when the release date was nearing, and everytime its been pushed back by 6 months or so.
Arse to it. I'll just see what happens.
my industry sources say "TBA"
remember though that there's a concentrated effort by the internet 'community" to destroy & discredit Valve. the latest incident involved a false press release that Steam was being wound down until the Half Life 2 launch - during 4 hours of server failure. Complete fabrication, but believed by many.
When Valve are involved, don't listen tu rumour.
and when release dates are involved, don't listen to Gameplay - they guess their dates.
i have a simple formula to deal with companies like valve and remedy.
VALVE = DELAY
team fortress 2 anyone? lol
TF2 is at least 6 years late now.
Valve really need to a hire a good project manager and do it quick. There's no reason for such a long delay except bad planning and poor management. It must be seriously affecting their reputation and profits.
EDIT: Soz Fer :/

Well, it was your use (jokingly or not) of the word 'Cracka', which is, according to UrbanDictonary.com 'A defamatory statement from the 1970s, primarily used for Caucasian males.'. So, it’s a bit like 'rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish' then, but is used as an insult towards white people.
If I, or anyone else, posted on these forums, with a post containing the word 'rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish' several times, be it lighthearted or not, would you consider that slightly out of order? I'd think so.
Regardless of your use of inappropriate language, you say yourself that you were 'having a go at Kilroy'. Alas, this thread is about Half Life II, and the delays it continues to suffer. I'm sure you can discuss Kilroy in the 'Question Time' forum.
So, inappropriate use of inflammatory language, or off-topic posting.
Those would be the reasons it was removed, I'd hazard a guess. (With the former being 99% of the reason it was removed).
Enjoy the forums,
Stu.
Now, back on topic; has anyone heard anything more concrete than Gameplay.com putting their release date back, on this issue? I don’t want to believe that it’s been delayed again, till September 2004, but I can’t help but think its true…
I wouldn't be suprised if they delay it again, then again, then go bust and it never gets finished
G4 PowerMac - Tiger 10.4 - 512MB RAM
MacBook - 2Ghz - 1GB RAM - 120GB HDD
Rotel RC970BX | DBX DriveRack |2x Rotel RB850
B&W DM640i | Velodyne 1512
Deja Vu anyone
I remember waiting for half life to come out on dreamcast for ages and ages, each time it neared the release date it was put back by months and in the end never released
One respected dreamcast magazine, dcuk even reviewed it- so much for "never reviewing a pre gold game"
In the end apparently sega decided it simply wasn't worth the cost of shipping it out seeing as though the dc was dead anyway
If someone had said next september back last year for hl2 we would have laughed, now it seems a viable date. Shocking really. Valve can have as much timeas they like imo but when bull sheet marketting depts. lie to us time after time about when a game is hitting the shelves it gets frustrating. Furthermore Valve are getting slated when its clearly managing director morons that are the cause of prblems- not to mention the hackers... which have provided the perfect scapegoat for any number of delays.
Sadly as good as the graphics are i cant see this living up to the expectation/hype
