Right - I'm finding myself drawn towards a PS3 at the moment. I only want it really for GT5, playing media in the front room and Folding.
Couple of questions:
1) Are normal DVD's upscaled to HD res?
2) Where's cheapest to buy? Found them for £270 from Dixons with a £10 off voucher, but they're bound to be available for less right?

Yep, one of the recent firmwares provided DVD upscale support. It most definiitely does a good job. I watched good morning vietnam the other day and it looked alot better running through my PS3 than a standard DVD player.
£280 is about the lowest price you'll get a PS3 for at the moment. I paid £335 from Zavvi last month for a PS3, extra pad, 1 blu-ray of my choice and 1 game of my choice. Seemed like the best deal at the time.
Play.com had a PS3 for £279.99 recently, with Kane and Lynch free.
on a similar note, anyone know what the cheapest 360 elite or elite bundle is?

no probs is not a bad deal i wish i had waited on getting my premium and go that one
im glad im finally buying one, but i feel stupid for waiting this long
and im taking ages to decide on a tv to go with it
i am using my 19" tft not ideal but it does 720p so suits me fine as i have a lack of space
