Recommend a fun arcadey FPS game for online play

So...I used to really like playing Elite Force online (Star Trek Quake 3 based FPS game). It's a dead game online now, still fun to fire it up and try and remember the trick strafe moves from yesteryear...

So..I'm on the lookout for another fun online FPS game that has the arcadey feel; quick preferable with something akin to strafe jumping, instagib mod maybe...obviously CTF would be ideal, really got into that, especially with the clans I was part of back on 2000-2003. (BTW doesn't mean I was any good...probably the most useless flag runner in the game.)

I tried UT2k3 but...it didn't hook me as EF did. Perhaps it was because I was new to UT and really didn't know too much about writing custom scripts or set it up to how I like it to play. When I mean custom scripts, its the fun things like binding "L" to say LoL but it rotates or randomises which version of LoL i say, silly little things like that.

Anyhow, any suggestions are welcome

I think team fortress 2 is what you're looking for. Get the orange box on steam, you won't regret it.

I like DoD for fast paced, generally you respawn within 10 sec, but bunny hopping is a no no. If you do give it a go house of noobs server is a good grin

I think I looked into TF2 and it isn't quite what I was looking for. At least from what I read.

I like continual strafe jumping, it's great fun building massive speed for some often difficult trick jumps (that can work in a proper match).

Time to persuade a couple of ex-EF playmates to try Warsow for now...

BTW free or pay; not too fussed as long as it is good, fast, jumping fun.

I'd say don't just read about TF2 - play it. It's a fantastic and funny online shooter. Plus, when you get the orange box you get a whole bunch of other world beating FPS games too

Just watched the bunny hopping video...this game is quick....Yeah! lol!

Downloading the game installer as we speak...

OK, installed, played abit and wow...it is everything I asked for...now to learn how to build up speed in the WMS videos....
