    Keeping your 360 Alive?

    Hi there,

I've heard alot of horror storys on the 360, and I do not want to get the red ring of death. Many people state that leaving your console in a well ventelated area and keeping the PSU well ventelated will pro-long the life of your console!

Well, my 360 is standing in the corner of my room, it has about 7-10CM around it on all sides. Should I put it up on my drawer and put it on its side? And also the PSU is under my drawer hidden, So i think I should take that out too lol.

There is no sure way of ensuring the console doesnt get the RROD.

It is a fault with the hardware itself therefore I wouldnt worry about it - if it gets the RROD send it back to MS - thats after all what the extended warrenty is for.

I know its a pain however most people will have to go through the process

Mine's been working - touch wood - since day one on release day. It's either been sat on top of a set of drawers (in a stack of similar equipment) or in a media unit (also in a stack). So I don't think that going to extra lengths will make much difference as to whether it dies or not.

    X-clamp replacement

Of course, that's only if you open up your console.

I don't think there is a lot you can do.
I did hear of one company, Lian Li, I think. Made a case for the 360. It is a lot bigger than the original case. It also void your warranty and according to a review I read it doesn't seem to make the components any cooler or cool enough to be worth it.

One thing I do is after switching of my 360 is to wait for it to cool down then put it back in the plastic bag it came in. Dust being a bad thing for something with overheating problems.

Still, that may not make much difference.

Although I do not recomend voiding your 360, You may be interested in llama.
Gives you some nice info and things other people do to the 360.

The new Jasper version of the 360 is supposed to reduce RROD's. Any console is prone to problems really, at least MS have given a 3yr RROD replacement policy which is a good thing, allbeit convenient.
